A website that says what you do and gets people in touch
Most small organisations don’t need a clever website. They need one that loads fast, explains clearly what they do, looks like a business people can trust, and makes contacting them easy. I build WordPress websites for charities and small businesses that do exactly that, and that you can update yourself afterwards.
Based in Hebden Bridge, working with organisations across the UK.
Design that fits you
Clean, professional pages built around your services and your people, not a template that looks like everyone else’s.
Written to be found
Page titles, descriptions and structure set up properly for Google from day one, so the site can bring in enquiries rather than just sit there.
Easy to update
Built with WordPress so you can change text, add a news post or swap a photo without calling anyone.
Works on phones
Most visitors will be on a mobile. Every page is built and checked for that first.
Hosting, domain and email sorted
Reliable UK-friendly hosting, your domain pointed correctly, and your email set up so it isn’t affected when the site changes.
The legal bits done
Privacy policy, cookie consent and accessibility basics in place, so you’re not caught out.
Fixing a site you already have
If you already have a website that’s slow, out of date, or built by someone who’s disappeared, a rebuild isn’t always needed. Often the fix is moving it to better hosting, tidying the pages, sorting the search settings and getting the admin access back into your hands. I’ll tell you which it is before any work starts.
What a good small-organisation website needs
Not much, done well. A clear home page, a page for each thing you do, an about page with real people on it, a contact page that works, and news or case studies that show you’re active. Sector pages or location pages can be added later if you want to reach a wider audience through search.
What it doesn’t need is a dozen plugins, animations that slow it down, or a design that needs a developer every time you want to change a word.
How a website build works
A free initial conversation. Who the site is for, what you need it to do, and what you have already.
A plan and a page list. What the site will include and what you need to provide, like photos and wording.
Build and review. You see it as it takes shape and we adjust before launch.
Launch and handover. The site live, Google told it exists, and you shown how to update it.
Common questions
The things people usually ask before a website project.
Do we need to write the content?
You know your organisation best, so the substance comes from you. I’ll draft and tidy the wording, and structure it so it reads well and works for search.
Can you move our existing site to new hosting?
Yes. Moving a site to better hosting, without losing the domain, email or Google rankings, is a common job.
Will we be able to update it ourselves?
Yes. That’s a design goal, not an afterthought. You’ll be shown how, and I’m available if you get stuck.
What does it cost to keep running?
Hosting and the domain are the only fixed costs, paid to the providers under your own accounts. There’s no ongoing fee to me unless you choose ongoing support.
