Our Work

Whether it is building something from scratch or fixing what is already there, the goal is always the same. Get it right, keep it simple, and make sure it works. Here is what that looks like in practice.

A decade of doing it for real.

Andy’s Man Club

Digital and Data Lead; Working with Andy’s Man club since 2016

How the right systems helped one of the UK’s fastest growing charities scale from 28 clubs to a national movement supporting 6,500+ men every week.

The Beginning

I first walked through the doors of Andy’s Man Club as someone who needed it. That experience shaped everything that came after.

Over time I became a volunteer, and eventually a member of staff. When I joined the team as the fourth paid employee, the organisation was doing what most fast growing charities do, focusing everything on the mission and the people it was built to serve.

With 28 clubs across the country and around 200 volunteers, the systems in place were practical and functional for where the organisation was at the time. Google Workspace was managed externally, club data was tracked in Numbers files, and coordination happened through WhatsApp. It worked, but as the organisation grew it was clear that the digital foundations needed to grow with it.

What Needed to Change

Andy’s Man Club was never short of commitment, passion, or purpose. What it needed as it grew was a digital infrastructure that could keep pace with its ambition.

New clubs were opening regularly. Volunteer numbers were climbing. Attendance was growing week on week. The organisation needed systems it could rely on, not just for today, but for wherever the mission would take it next.

What We Did

The work happened in stages, always shaped by what the organisation needed next.

Visibility came first. Clean reporting was introduced across the network using Google Forms, Sheets, and pivot tables, replacing fragmented data collection with something consistent, reliable, and easy to act on.

Communication followed. Moving the organisation from WhatsApp to Google Chat Spaces brought clarity and structure to a growing team coordinating across an expanding national network.

The Andy’s Man Club website has been rebuilt three times under my oversight, each version reflecting a more mature, more visible, and more ambitious organisation.

As the team grew and complexity increased, I led procurement across a range of critical systems, including a new CRM, AI tools, cyber security provision, managed IT services, and managed print services. Each process was run with the organisation’s long term needs at the centre, not just the immediate problem.

Where We Are Now

Andy’s Man Club today is a genuinely remarkable organisation.

Over 40 members of staff. More than 3,500 volunteers giving their time every week. Over 350 clubs running every Monday night across the UK. Over 6,500 men walking through the doors every single week, many of whom might not have found support anywhere else.

The systems working quietly behind all of that are what allow the people at the front to focus entirely on what matters. That is what good digital infrastructure looks like when it is done properly.

Digital Consultant

How a conversation on a mountain in January turned into a business launch, and the spark that started Calder Valley Tech Support.

The Brief

In January, on a hiking trip in the Cairngorms, Ryan Hayes mentioned he was thinking about launching his own rope access and confined rescue business. He had spent most of his working life in the industry, knew the work inside out, and had built a reputation for doing it properly. What he needed was everything else.

That conversation is also where the idea for Calder Valley Tech Support was born.

By the time we came down off the mountain the plan was taking shape. Ryan and his business partner Mark Bostock needed a professional digital presence and the systems to back it up, built from scratch and ready for launch.

What We Did

The first priority was getting Ropes and Rescue online properly. A clean, professional WordPress website was designed and built to clearly communicate what they do, who they serve, and how to get in touch. Hosting was set up on SiteGround for reliability and performance, replacing an existing GoDaddy account that wasn’t fit for purpose.

Microsoft 365 was configured from scratch, giving Ryan and Mark professional business email, document management, and the internal tools they needed to operate as a proper business from day one.

Work processes were then built out using Microsoft Forms and SharePoint. In a sector where compliance and documentation matter enormously, having reliable systems in place from the start wasn’t a nice to have. It was essential.

The Result

Ropes and Rescue launched with a professional digital presence and the operational systems to back it up. Everything was built to be simple to manage day to day and easy to build on as the business grows.

A conversation in the Cairngorms became a fully operational business. That is exactly what Calder Valley Tech Support is here to do.
